Antique German Bisque Porcelain Perfume Atomizer - Girl with Large Basket

Antique German Bisque Porcelain Perfume Atomizer - Girl with Large Basket. This piece dates to about 1895-1920. The girl stands 4 1/4" tall and the atomizer section stands 5 3/8" tall. The base is merely molded with a "14" which is most likely the mold number for the company that produced it. I do not know which Germany company made this cute little piece.

G. de Beffort & Co

G. de Beffort was located at 66 rue de Bondy in Paris, they produced perfume atomizers, perfume burners, garnitures de toilette, barber supplies, and various hardware such as metal sprinkler crown tops for perfume bottles.

The company won the Grand Prix at the Exposition Internationale in Paris in 1911. One of their patented products was Cistaflor - a perfume burner and known for their pocket atomizers sold under the brand name "Ketma". The Ketma atomizer I believe was used by Maurice Babani.

They had an office at 2 St-Georges Avenue, 2, Aldermanbury, EC, in London.

The company was still in business in 1923 as I have evidence of a hand dated invoice.

The 1923 invoice shown above illustrates one of the Ketma pocket sized perfume atomizers in the upper right corner. 

From Pauline Turco's collection. This German porcelain perfume elephant is one of the small animal atomizer bottles by Schafer & Vater, model number 886. The tan monochrome glaze highlights the fine detail of this piece. Labels on both sides of the elephant identify the atomizer " Ketma". The atomizer hardware is stamped, "Made in France." As is often the case, the bottle is German made and the atomizer hardware was from France. This S&V model was sold as a souvenir at the Exposition Coloniale Internationale in Paris, France in 1931. Shown on page 115 of The Crown Top Book by Pauline Turco. Size: Approximately 3" h. including atomizer hardware and bulb.

Volupte c1920s Green and Black Stenciled Atomizer & Dropper Set

Volupte c1920s Green and Black Stenciled Atomizer & Dropper Set. This clear glass set has jade green fired on enamel and is decorated with black stenciled decoration. It has its original gilded hardware with the scrolling motif on the collars. The top of the dauber features the overall florl pattern in the metal.

The atomizer stands 6.75" tall and base measures 2.25" diameter.
The dropper bottle stands 6.5" tall and base measures 2.25" diameter..

Some bottles are made up of transparent glass, opaque colored glass, two are made up of sterling silver, one is encased by celluloid, some bottles have an iridized finish, other bottles have engraved or hand painted details picked out by enamel. The bottles were made by Cambridge I think.

This atomizer is made up of colorless glass and is fitted into a faux mother of pearl celluloid holder. The holder came in several shades: white pearl on amber, rose pearl on amber, and blue pearl on amber. It has gold plated hardware. The bottle stood 5.75" tall.

This simple atomizer was made up of amber glass and had an iridized finish like that seen on carnival glass of the period. The bottle stood 5.25" tall.

This slim atomizer was made up of rose colored opaque glass and stood a graceful 6 3/8" tall.

Nice atomizer made up of opaque black glass bottle with hand painted gold decoration. The stem and base is made up of gold "Duralin", a type of early plastic (still in use today). The bottle stands 7 3/8" tall.

This atomizer seems to have been made up of clear glass with a coral red fired on enamel outer surface. The bottle features the clear glass and gold painted "window panes" effect, often seen other other competitors like DeVilbiss and Volupte. The bottle stands 7 1/8" tall.

This blue transparent glass bottle has an engraved cameo of a Neo-Classical dancer. The bottle stands 7" tall.

This gorgeous bottle is made up of amber glass, and accented with a hand painted gold enameled band with dainty roses, ending in a simulated knotted fringe effect. This bottle stands 7" tall.

Here's another bottle that has a celluloid casing. The inner bottle is made up of colorless glass and is encased in a green faux mother of pearl holder. The hardware os gilded and the bottle has a glass siphon tube. The bottle stands 6.5" tall.

This graceful, fluted sterling silver bottle has a bright finish and rests on a delicate pedestal base. This bottle stands 6" tall.

Here's another sterling silver bottle, this time, it has a grey finish, and not the bright polished finish as the previous bottle. It has a demure embossed base and stood 5.5" tall.

Vant Woud Atomizers c1924 Advertisement

This atomizer features Cambridge's Azurite glass. Notice the hardware is slightly different than what is shown in the advertisement.  The bottle stands a little over 6 1/2" tall.

These atomizers were also shown but I am unsure if these are Vant Woud, but I am including them here anyway. 

Bottle stands 4.25" tall by 1 7/8" bottom diameter. Octagonal Shape, with eight paneled sides. Outlined with gold gilt on alternating panels. This bottle also came in the heliotrope color. The hardware could be either Vant Woud or Volupte.
